Our story
Belan.J began at my retail store, Active Baby, where I spent years helping families find the right products for their little ones. As a mom of three, I know how crucial sleep is for both babies and parents.
My mission is simple: to create thoughtfully designed, beautiful sleepwear that truly helps children sleep better, so parents can too.
Before starting Belan.J, I spent over a decade listening to what parents needed, sourcing products, and learning what actually worked in real life. Over time, I saw how difficult it was to find sleepwear that felt soft enough, held up over time, and supported restful sleep night after night, plus, beautiful to the eyes.
That’s how Belan.J was born.
We use gentle, breathable, premium bamboo fabrics in every piece. Our signature watercolour designs are inspired by nature, created to feel timeless, calming, and softly beautiful.
P.S. The name Belan.J is made up of my three daughters’ names, Bell, Ruann, and Hailan, along with the “J” from my name, July. I later realized it also sounds like “beautiful angels” in French, which felt really special
Watercolour Prints
Did you know our very first print was a beautiful watercolor floral design? Since then, we are all about the watercolor style for almost all our prints. We find endless inspiration in the nature surrounding us and in embracing the Canadian lifestyle here in Vancouver. We are also proud of working with a group of talented artists, transforming our visions and vibe into unique patterns. Parents agree that the best bamboo sleep sacks are soft yet functional for sensitive skin.
Now, here's a little secret: in the Belan.J team, we don't just have one, but a few sets of picky eyes. It's not unusual for a design to go through more than five rounds of reprinting before finalizing for production. If we all like it, we're pretty sure you'll love it too.

Where are your products made?
They are ethically made in China. Our manufacturing partners are a small family-owned business - just like us! They have a keen focus on quality control and detailed attention to materials. With a fair treatment of employees, safe and healthy working conditions and environmentally sustainable production process, they have created a positive impact in their local community.
What are the materials made from?
95% Bamboo Rayon, 5% Spandex.
This fabric composition gives our fabric the buttery soft and stretch we’re known for. We custom spin our Bamboo rayon to a specific weight to get the level of softness, stretch and durability that is superior to other bamboo brands.
How do you design your prints
We work with local designers to create unique, beautiful artwork to turn into our signature watercolour style prints. We take inspiration from the world around us to create our prints. From Canada’s natural beauty to animals kids love to beautify florals, we strive to make aesthetically pleasing print that kids and parents love.
How do I care for my Bamboo Clothing?
To keep your Bamboo looking and feeling great, we recommend washing with cold water on a delicate cycle, using gentle detergent. Avoid mixing other fabrics such as towels or denim that could increase abrasion and lead to pilling. Tumble dry on low heat or hang to dry in a well-ventilated room.
How can I prevent pilling?
Pilling is a common problem with bamboo clothes, but there are steps you can take to prevent it. Here are some tips to help you keep your bamboo clothes from pilling:
- Wash them inside out- Washing your bamboo clothes inside out can help prevent pilling.
- Use a gentle detergent- Use a mild detergent that is free of bleach and fabric softeners. This will help preserve the bamboo fibers and keep your clothes soft.
- Avoid the dryer- Hang or lay flat to dry, as bamboo fabric can shrink in the dryer. If you must use the dryer, use a low heat setting.
- Brush them- Gently brushing your bamboo clothes with a soft-bristled brush can help remove any pilling that has occurred

When spun into fabric, Bamboo is incredibly soft and has great properties that make for a restful night sleep! Whether it’s the breathability, temperature regulating, or the gentleness on baby’s sensitive skin, there is a benefit to your baby which leads to a comfortable, long night sleep.

When can I expect my order?
We want to get your new favorites to you as quickly as possible! Since all orders are shipped directly from our US warehouse, you can look forward to a delivery process without the worry of customs delays.
- Processing: Our team carefully prepares and packs your order within 1–3 business days.
- Shipping: Once it leaves our warehouse, your package will typically arrive within 3–7 business days, depending on your state.

What is your return policy?
We have a 14-day return policy, which means you have 14 days AFTER receiving your item to request a return.
To be eligible for a return, your item must be in the same condition that you received it, unused, and unwashed, with tags, and in its original packaging. You’ll also need the receipt or proof of purchase

FINAL SALE Items purchased with a discount of 25% or more are not eligible for refund and are final sale. We do not accept returns on sale/clearance items or gift cards.
What if my items arrive damaged?
Oops! As with all handmade items, sometimes things are always perfect.
If you’ve received an item that is damaged or defective due to a manufacturing error, send an email to service@belan-j.com. with your order number and a photo of the defect.
Please note, any item that is damaged or defective must be reported within 14 days to be eligible for exchange or store credit.
Is there a local pick-up option?
At this time, we do not offer local pickup options as all orders are fulfilled directly from our warehouse to get them to your doorstep as quickly as possible.
