Belan.J is deeply rooted in Canadian values: quality, sustainability, and a connection to family and community. These values translates into each aspect of our business. Our clothing is crafted from premium bamboo fabric and soft knits, materials chosen specifically for their eco-friendliness and comfort and our small team of women and mother’s work hard to bring the best quality and care to our customers.
The most obvious Canadian-isms are found in some of our most popular prints. We often look to Canada’s natural beauty and landscape for inspiration. These elements are incorporated into our design with our signature watercolour style that reflects the beauty of the natural landscape across Canada.
In the Beginning
From the very beginning, Belan.J has been about more than just apparel. It’s about creating a legacy of love, creativity, and community. With every stitch, we strive to provide children with the comfort and quality they deserve while also being kind to the environment.
As a mother of three, July (Belan.J’s Founder) was on a mission to raise her children with the best possible quality of life, promoting a healthy and happy lifestyle. This daily commitment is at the heart of Belan.J, where every piece of clothing is designed not only for style but also for comfort, quality, and sustainability. The goal is simple: to ensure that children who wear Belan.J experience the same care and quality that went into creating their clothes.
Before launching Belan.J, July spent countless hours running Active Baby, a beloved local store for young children and families. Through her work with the Vancouver community since 2009, she learned exactly what local mamas wanted: high-quality, cozy, and stylish clothes for their little ones. This experience and connection with the community paved the way for Belan.J's creation.

More than a Name
What makes Belan.J even more special is the heart behind its name. "Belan.J" comes from the names of the founder's three daughters—Bell, Ruann, and Hailan—combined with the initial of her own name, July. It’s a personal touch that adds even more meaning to every garment. Interestingly, when pronounced in French, Belan.J translates to "beautiful angels," perfectly encapsulating the care and love woven into each piece of clothing.
